2009 TOUR SCHEDULE
AC 2, Gwaii Haanas Kayak Mother Ship (6 Days)
Kayak mothership is a unique, new concept that combines the best of a boat tour with the best of kayaking. You can explore much more of the Islands than a usual kayak tour, paddle only when you want (travel with the boat and read your book if you prefer), no packing and unpacking of the kayaks, a warm, dry boat and delicious supper to come ‘home' to. Explore ancient Haida villages, soak in the hot pools, walk the ancient rainforest, paddle with seabirds and drift through the intertidal displays of Burnaby Narrows. Have the best of both worlds, in the best world of all.
2009 Departures: May 30, June 16, 23, July 18,
Aug 6, 22, 29, Sept 5
Cost per person: $2300 CAD
AC8, More of Gwaii Haanas Kayak Mothership Tour (8 days)
We bow to public pressure and have added 2 days to our very popular kayak mothership tour of Gwaii Haanas. An additional 2 days to savour all of our usual paddles, abandoned Haida villages, Hotspring Island, Burnaby Narrows with more time to explore some of our other favourite spots. Visit a sealion colony, paddle remote Kunghit beaches, explore the unique ecosystem of a west coast inlet or climb to the "bonzai bogs" of the San Cristovals; the possibilities are almost limitless. More of Gwaii Haanas to paddle from the comfort and safety of Anvil Cove.
2009 Departures: May 21, June 6, 30, July 9, Aug 13
Cost per person: $2800 CAD
AC 3, Moresby Circumnavigation (10 Days)
Explore the rugged west coast of Moresby Island; the San Cristoval Mountains stand close to the rugged shore, long, peaceful inlets indent the coast , great for hiking and paddling. The mountains are the original ancient granite rock, glaciated and eroded and covered with "bonsai bogs", home to many of Haida Gwaii's unique plant species. Rare encounters with denizens of the offshore; humpback whales, Pacific white-sided dolphins, albatross, phalaropes, puffins, Japanese glass balls and more. The west coast has numerous pre-contact Haida villages but little remains but the lingering spirit of bygone times. The east coast is sheltered cruising through scenic islands, channels and inlets; a gentler seascape. It is also the setting for many village sites (Ninstints, Tanu) with standing poles and longhouse remains. This tour is for those looking to truly experience all that Gwaii Haanas has to offer.
2009 Departure Date: July 26
Cost per person: $3300 CAD
AC 4, Duu Guusd Tribal Park Tour (8 Days)
Visit this newest of Haida Gwaii parks recently proclaimed by the Haida to protect the northwest area of Graham Island. Spectacularly rugged west coast but somewhat different from Moresby Island, more gentle mountains, accessible sandy beaches, large inlets with great kayaking from the edge of the Pacific to the rainforest of huge trees at inlet head. Ecological reserves protect the seabird nesting colonies and the unique ecosystems of this area. The ancient Haida village of Chaatl has many remains including the only standing house frontal pole of Islands, while most of the village sites of the park have only the echoes of ancient times. Another face of Haida Gwaii.
2009 Departure: June 30, July 9, or Aug 13
Cost per person: $2700
